Default Changing the track width for 3 Series rear

Hi, this is not actually a Marlin question but I know you guys use E36 donors. I am playing with the idea of a kit based on a 3 series but want it to be narrower than the donor. I see the track on the Marlin is wider.

Assuming I get a customer tubular chassis built should it be easy to narrow the track by about 5 inches?

Can I just move the suspension mounts in a bit on each side?

What problems am I setting myself up for?

*Yes, I am a newbie on here and yes this is my first kit build

The front end would be easy to deal with. Simply shorten the steering rack arms by an equal amount each side.
The rear would require the drive shafts to be shortened, and then you would have to check cv angles: but a decent engineering company could do that for you.
The rest should then be straight forward.
