Default spyder 129 update

Hi all.
An update on spyder No 129. It is now inspected, MOT'd and taxed and road legal. We are driving it in gelcoat until any problems are ironed out, the first of which was a laughably noisy 3rd gear. We have had the car off the road again and have almost finished a 5 speed conversion. Just got to sort out the gearbox cover modifications.
Cheers.
Steve.

I went to Peterborough in the end. That was after an attempt at Boreham Wood. The chap at Peterborough was very helpfull.
I am doing a type 9 conversion, using a Canley adaptor plate. There is a lot of info on the web on this conversion and mine has happened exactly the same as most other people have experienced. I did initially scratch my head wondering where the type 9 oil drain plug was!!!!

Hi all.
Will get photos soon-promise!!
Took it for its first run with the 5speed in, just lovely now. Clutch was dragging initialy, but that sorted itself out. I had fitted new points and ended up having to take some emory cloth to them to clear some kind of coating off.
Need to set up the Stromberg carb now, its running very weak. I need a co driver to pull the choke out at the right moment to make it go!! The setup according to the haynes manual looks straightforward so I'll try that first.
I also need to fabricate something to fill the gap between the gearbox cover and the transmission tunnel. The hot air coming out of there yesterday was a bit much!
When i went to peterborough I had the body fitted and the cockpit sides done. Car was able to move under its own power, all electrics, running gear etc were done. I left the bonnet off, no windscreen and no seats fitted.
Make sure engine number can be read and that you have the body ID plate fitted and legible. There is an entrance via a barrier to the right hand side of the building. You pull up to the barrier and there is an intercom to the office.
The area round the back is easily big enough to turn around in with a trailer attached.
Good luck with the inspection.

Looking forward to seeing some pictures.

I agree about the Peterborough DVLA office, can't big them up enough. Friendly, efficient and in an easy spot to get to. Shame it'll be closing soon.
