Default Side Screens

Hi Everyone,
As usual I am after more advice from fellow builders.
I would like some perspex side screens on my G46 to keep the draught away in the cold northern climate.
Can someone advise on material and thickness and possible suppliers.
Also is it possible to cut with a jig saw or must it be by hand to stop is cracking?
Many Thanks
HM

you could probably fabricate them with perspex quite easily. I wouldn't use a jigsaw to cut them though, by hand or a small circular saw would be best. You can then use a heat bar or a heat gun to flex it into shape if needed.

As for holding it in place it would be quite easy to cut up some aluminium and bend it into shape ( like an L ) rivet/bolt the sides in, or even make them removable.

You can cut Perspex with a jigsaw but have it clamped tight in a plywood sandwich so that it doesn't vibrate when cutting.

Default thickness

Guys,

Thanks for the replys and advice.
Have you any perls of wisdom on thickness?
I found this on another site:

"For cars 1/4in for the windsheild and 1/8 for the side pieces seems to work fine if you are using Lexan, add a 1/16th for Plexi."

Anyone use thicknesses other than 6mm for screen and 3mm for side screens?
Plexi or Lexan?

Cheers
HM
