Default New Double Build In London

Hello everyone!

A friend and I have been working away for a few months at two MX250c's we're building. We thought we should sign up here as it looks a good place to swap tips, advice on parts etc, especially as some things have been a bit tricky! And Chris is a very busy man...

The biggest problem for us has been getting the boot and bonnet perfectly aligned - in the end we decided the only way to get a really smooth, aligned finish was to build up around the problem areas with P40 and then sand down, before applying filler.

Here are some photos showing our progress thus far:

The first car is going to paint this week and then we'll be ready to add the final touches - mesh grills, wheels, headlight covers, front arches, re-covered seats, petrol cap, interior bits etc.

Does anybody have any advice with regards to wheels and spacers, or fitting the grill mesh, petrol cap and headlight covers? Anything to watch out for?

Cheers

Alex

Hi Alex. My 250c is almost finished and of to paint in the next few days. I too had a problem with boot and bonnet how I solved it was to heat the corners with a heat gun and re shape slightly , this worked a treat. I fitted the grills before I fitted the body . I have fitted after market seats , steering wheel , twin exhaust black wolf race wheels with 25mm spacers ( purchased of eBay)
I got some old inner wheel arches and screwed them to my arches they work well too .
If you need any help just ask
Jason

2 pairs of headlight covers will be winging there way to you soon!

Good luck at the paintshop

Hi Jason - thanks very much for this, interesting solution with the heat gun! Which twin exhaust did you get out of interest? One of our cars already has a great single pipe performance exhaust on it so I'm going to leave it on, but for the second one we're considering a different setup.

Has the car been to paint yet?

Cheers

Alex

Thanks very much Chris - headlights look good.

Any news on the headlight covers please? Even if just the first pair for now as we've realised we need them before painting as we need to do some work around the headlights - just want to check they fit perfectly because I dont want to do any sanding down AFTER painting!

Cheers

Hi Alex . Car stripped and still in primer, keep finding bits to fill and sand . Got the exhaust from mx parts in Portsmouth . Fitted perfect and sounds awesome .

I'm going to do away with the back box completely and just run straight through from the middle silencer. There are lots of places who will make custom exhausts and aren't too expensive, just have a quick search on the web for one local to you. Alternatively there is a twin pipe option for the MX.
