I'm on 175/70/14's while Phil J's cars run on 175/80/14's.
The taller tyres look really period but would foul on the front of mine, even after having moved the bulkhead back 20mm. That's probably because I've lowered mine to the max, taking 95mm off the front springs.
I've got bright silver paint, just need a sustained period of bright weather so I can spray it on.
Metallic grey, red, burgundy and black were all on my list too though, but a 20 litre deal on Jawel pure silver, with 5 litres of high build primer, 5 litres of cellulose top coat, 5 litres of standard thinners and 5 litres of high gloss thinners for £100 delivered was too good to pass up. Can't find the same deal available at the moment, but this is similar -

Anyway, whichever colour you go with I'm sure it'll look great.

Was looking at 2K paint, all in etch primer , high build 2 pack, colour coat 2 pack and clear coat 2 pack with thinners £ 178 delivered this was Jawel paints to mixed to colour requested..
A little nervous about 2 pack as I hear its much harder to spray.

The way I understand it is, 2 pack positives -
harder wearing finish;
less work getting a shine after spraying.
2 pack negatives -
you can't sand out runs and drips like you can with cellulose;
it's highly toxic and you need positive air fed breathing apparatus on when you spray it, not just a filter mask.
You pays your money you takes your choice.

Rubbing down continues, reached the stage where I wonder if it will ever be ready for paint.
Talking of which its ordered, Jaguar Rhodium Silver in 2 pack, don't know if I will get it applied this time or not, I understand timing is crucial so you don't get movement and crazing between the primer, colour and clear coat..
Problem is I am reaching a stage where I just want to get it on.. If i don't i will be disappointed , If I do and it crazes gain disappointment decisions, decisions.

Made a decision on rear lights with these from SVC~, keeping the minimal but hopefully period look. Stop , tail and indicator all in one and only 80mm diameter, fingers crossed.

Amazing how empty my inbox has been without my madabout updates...
Well the paint turned up and I am really pleased with my chosen colour, however I never got as far as spraying anything, found plenty of little jobs to be getting on with and a couple of changes to plan which delayed this.
Decided the lights wouldn't look so good surface mounted so have had a go at frenching them in at the rear,
So far seems to be working,
.
Did take a little longer as of course when I cut the holes the rear out rigger was directly behind so had to be shortened about 8cm.
Not mounted yet just held roughly in place with the stick but you get the idea.
Mounted and fixed the front grill, have blanked in the bottom as its so low thought it might help keep a few stones out of the radiator.
All very much work in progress.

.
Cheers Pops

The headlights are copies of P700, an Ebay special around £50.
The rears are SVC, was worried the compact size wouldn't be bright enough but very surprised 5 watt tail is ample, break is 21w and indicator 10w all separate bulbs..

Pops - You have a lot of nice little mods going into your car.
I think the grille really looks the part too.
Good luck, Paul.

Thanks guys, I am hoping the small touches will add to the final result. The grill is that little different from the standard ( its still the insert from the Chrysler 300c car ) may end up satin black with chrome front not sure yet, problem is I don't plan the build it just happens.
Thats me finished building for another month, will be watching the forum while away though..
Cheers for now Pops

Liking the grill 'pops, great job.
Look forward to seeing your next big push when you're home again.
With a bit of luck and fair weather we can meet up for a ploughmans somewhere local and compare spyders in the pub car park this summer.

On hold
So near yet so far!
Just when it looked like I was close to completing the build life took a strange turn, now I am looking for a place to live, (hopefully with a garage).
Havent seen the car since I last updated in April not sure when I will again.
Without going in to too much detail hope to be back on here one day and have a complete build to show you, until then I will watch from the sidelines.
Good luck

Just seen your last entry Pops. I wish you all the best sorting things out and I hope to see your car on the road one day soon.
If it'll help, pm me once I've got mine mot'd and I'll take you out for a spin to blow the cobwebs out. Good luck and stay in touch no matter what.
