Default Offset help?

Is it the higher the number the further out the arches the wheels will sit and the lower the number the further in the arches they will sit??

Just about to buy some new alloys and need to be sure!

Also is the eg 38 offset in mm?

so if I had 1 wheel offset 38 and another offset 30 one of them would sit 8mm further in towards the center of the car?

cheers

Default

lower the offset, the further out of the arch the wheel will sit. It's the distance of the wheel face from the centreline of the wheel.

It's measured in mm.

Assuming the same rim width (I guess 7"), then out the outer face of an ET38 will sit 8mm further in toward the centre of the car, than an ET30.
