Hi Rich,

You didn't miss much - there were less stands but more people. Marlin have a new design for the hood for the 5Exi with a more trailing edge to the rear but that was about all. Saw a couple of 5EXi's there but not sure who they belonged to.

Sorry no pics. The only difference from the old design as far as i could see was the addition of the two wings at the back which gets rid of that awkward squared back look.

Hi Guys

Yes, the new hood design is a good improvement as it gives better security holding the hood down firmly on the front and allows better ventilation at the rear to prevent misting up. Unfortunately you can not modify existing hoods to the latest spec (I did ask) so if you want the latest design you will have to buy a new hood.

The other big news from Marlin is that the 5EXi will be re-engineered to fit the VW/Audi 1.8T engine with 225BHP as standard and 300BHP with mild tuning and no internal modification. The plan is to put these engines in the 2009 race cars competing in the Castle Combe Special GT Championship. As ever with any new development, there are bound to be some teething troubles so I will be waiting until these are fully sorted before having my car converted. In the meantime I have sourced a fully rebuilt VVC replacement for my knackered engine and am selling my B18 Honda Engine/Gerbox etc. If you are interested please see the other thread I have posted regarding this.

I don't know the price of the new hood, when I discovered that mine couldn't be converted I didn't ask. A quick call to Terry at Marlin will get you the price I'm sure.
