Default Heated Windscreen.

Righto.

First off. If you can help it. If you need your windscreen replaced, try not to use National Windscreens. There service is crap. Bad communication, bad attitude and most of all, it as taken 3 months for them to get a screen!

Rant over

THe National Windscreen guy refused to fit my windscreen. Saying it won't bond to the rollcage. Also there did not want to be responsible if the screen fell out when bonded to the rollcage. So told them to bugger off and I'll do it myself. Has anybody else had this problem?
I have tiger seal at the ready!

Next thing. Wiring the heated screen. Through a relay and a timer button of some sort?

I used proper windscreen bonding glue. To say my last one was stuck to the roll cage is a minor understatement - when I removed it, it took me a couple of hours to carefully tease it away!

As for the wiring, be wary of the current draw - on Fords you can't run the heated screen until the charging circuit is active, such is the draw, and the worry of discharging the battery. Fit some hefty wire - on my daily driver the feed to the screen is through dedicated fused wires directly from the battery.

Incidentally, I'd try and get a heated screen relay from a mondeo / fiesta / escort (not a focus, mk3 mondeo, or mk6 fiesta), as they have a timer circuit in them.

Cheers John.

Funny, as in my tool box, I have a Ford Escort/Orion Haynes manual from when I had one before. And had a look at the diagram this morning.

Post 95 ones seem to be the easiest to wire in. 50A is the fuse rating! Not sure what the Lotus screen would draw.

I'll have a look in the Rover fuse box and see if I have some hefty ones spare.
