Now you're talking...

I've had 3 of those. The last one had the 130bhp Zetec motor so the thought of 150bhp in a potentially lighter and better balanced car has some appeal.

Not sure how the hood would work though...

Knowing your love for white and black livery and drilled body panels - this could be some inspiration

I was over at Chris's place the other day, he is really busy with other work and it didn't look like the project had moved on much.

I did spend 15 minutes on Saturday morning trying on a wheel and tyre for clearance.

Before. Stock MX5 14" wheel:

After. New 15x9 0et alloy trial fitted with a used 225/50 to check amount of tyre stretch and clearance on steering lock, which is all good at stock ride height. The finished car will be lowered 60mm so may require the front inner arch panel joint seams dressing back a little for clearance:

Not a huge difference in rolling radius and only about an inch in height:

Bonnet finally collected from eBay seller (he had £20k in his unfinished Mk1 Escort...), it will need to be combined with the rear edge of an MX bonnet to lengthen:

Nice one Chris, that's coming along nicely.

What is the plan with the roof/windscreen?

The roof will only require widening, lowering and shortening, but not a bad fit really. Contour at windscreen head rail is very similar.

Unsuspecting donor:

MX5 windscreen will be retained, side and rear windows will be Lexan/polycarbonate.

Default roof mxico

Always more work as it seems.
I am interested in a set when you have finished with your
Personal Project.
Mine first car was an escort mk1 and I have a lot off mx5 parts
and some cars as well. A perfect combination of the past and present
for me.

regards mx5teo

No progress I'm afraid, other things have overtaken this project. Back on it in a few weeks I hope.
