Default Wire wheel help needed

I have just purchased some e type jag wheels for my kobra bmw z3 build, I bought them on a whim not knowing if I can get them on the car !, being new to this I was wondering if anyone out there could offer some advice as to what I would need. they are 16" diameter and 6" inch in width.

Many thanks

Wolfie

You need a bolt on splined adaptor. I got mine made by Olson Manufacturing for about £120 per corner.

I will post a picture when I get off this stupid iPad

There have been a few people asking about these. Perhaps someone could organise a group buy discount?

Found this old thread that describes options http://www.madabout-kitcars.com/foru...ead.php?t=4940

Lucky you- finding some wider rims (5" are standard). Motor Wheel Services near Slough do the adaptors and 2 eared knock-offs. Standard 5 stud Jaguar ones fit perfectly except you'll need to re-countersink the holes with a 60deg bit to be able to use the BMW wheel bolts. The adaptors are countersunk 45deg to match the original Jaguar wheel nuts.

If you're going to use Jaguar wheels, wouldn't it be better to use replacement bolts with a Jaguar taper? That said, I wouldn't be comfortable because of the difference in PCD between BMW and Jaguar fitments unless wobble bolts were used.

Good luck with finding some of those... the engineering protocol seems to be 45deg taper on wheel nuts and 60deg taper on wheel bolts. I was unable to track any down.

The BMW PCD is 120mm and the Jaguar PCD is 120.6mm and the difference in the base flange is also <1mm. As the BMW bolts are 12mm and the Jaguar stud holes are 1/2" - it all bolts up nicely.

Correct- for the BMW Z3.
120.6mm (4.75") for the 5 stud Jaguar.

I have amended my previous post.
Thanks.

Just found my original post on all this from June 2014:

I paid a visit to the experts this evening- Motor Wheel Services in Langley, Bucks.

They pointed out the number 455 stamped on the rim which identifies them as original Dunlop rims fitted to Jags but they are #52 hubs which has nothing to do with the spline count, length, width or the colour of your favourite money. In fact, there's nothing on the wheels that could be measured or counted that would give you that exact number. It's down to the size of the bearing in the car's hub !!!

Their technical info shows:

Wheel Type 52
Actual Hub Diameter 73mm
Number of Splines 88
Spline Length Short Hub 37mm
Spline Length Long Hub 62mm

So the wheels can be identified from those dimensions but nothing is 52 anything.

Note 1: The wheel type designation refers to the maximum size of outer bearing, in millimetres, which can be used with that hub.

Note 2: Actual hub diameter is measured across the outside of the splines on the car and not the wheel itself. Dimensions are ±½mm.

Check it all out here at: Technical Info, Wheel Centre Sizes
