Default DVLA strikes again

After the problems other people have had I suppose I shouldn't be surprised....

This morning I had a reminder that the tax or sorn, on the vehicle I used as the donor for my Sportster, was due for renewal! As part of the registration process the Northampton DVLA office took the V5 for the donor vehicle saying they would arrange for it to be marked as "scrapped". This clearly hasn't happened and I guess the V5 must be still lurking somewhere.

I now have to try and convice the DVLA that this is what has happened - or I supose I could just return the Sorn declaration.....

Has anyone else had this problem?

Robin

Exactly the same happened to me.
DVLA Poole doesn't seem to be on speaking terms with DVLA Swansea.
They both don't acknowledge emails either.
I had to write to Swansea and get them to contact Poole to verify that the donor was scrapped.
I wonder how common this is?

I've not had any issues (so far) and they seemd to be very efficient at the office I went too? I guess it depends on who you get at the office..

I had DVLA send me a SORN reminder for the Sierra donor a year after I had scrapped it. Just wrote them a letter and that was the last I heard on that issue.

Guess what - I recieved my tax reminder for Vikky today. In the same envelope was a reminder for the donor!

Rang Swansea, and I've to write them a letter with all the pertinant details - regardless of the fact that I posted off the permenantly scrapped portion of the V5 last April, and surrendered the rest of it to DVLA Northampton when I had the car inspected (Also April '10)

At least DVLA is consistant on this point. Consistantly rubbish.

What! They used the same envelope - for two documents! Wonders will never cease

Done that and I was going to say "got the teeshirt" - but I haven't - got the teeshirt that is.... I am in a similar position and wrote a letter nearly three months ago - heard nothing so far....

I'd chase them.

I was shocked yesterday that I actually recieved an acknowledgement letter from them, saying that the donor car has now been removed from the regstration DB.

With their current performance, I'll be filing that document carefully away for when I get another tax reminder next year.
