Default Maybe an ideal Cordite donor available ...

As another lurker steps out of the shadows...

Hello there,

I'm a long way from starting a build, more like just doing some research at the moment.
The build threads are really helping me to understand the costs involved & time/skill required.

Two things that have struck me so far:
- Paying extra for a solid rolling chassis seems like a good plan
- It is amazing how much you can get by selling the parts you don't want.

Anyway, whilst trying to get an idea of car prices, I came across this:

http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C280649

Sounds ideal to me as everything you need for your build is there & in good condition.
Plus all the stuff you don't need is in great shape too if you want to sell it to help fund the build.

I need to move house before I can start buying bits, so hope this might help someone else on here.

Cheers, Paul.

Hello Paul .....Thank you for introducing yourself.

The Spitfire does look like a good start for someone - thank you for the link.

I have bid on two recently and been just pipped on both of them....

We have made some progress on the Cordite , quite a lot , but I just want Mike to get a bit further before I update....

Hmmm, that looks far too good to break. Much as I love the Sammio and I'd happily sacrifice a mk iv or 1500 to build a cordite, the mk 111 spitfire is just too good a classic in its own right to use as a donor imho. Feel free to challenge that by all means...

Thanks for the welcome.

Mister Towed - Fair point. Also the more I look into this I guess the MkIV or 1500 might be better donor options due to the improvements in rear suspension on those models. I'm here to learn, so all feedback welcome.

Cheers, Paul.

Classic or not, there quite enough people willing to keep a Spitfire on the road compared to the run of the mill Heralds, so as a die hard Triumph enthusiast, I have less issues with Spits being converted to kits...

These old saloons are getting very very rare...
