Default What mods/modernisations are you adding?

While i'm trying to keep my Spyder looking period (to go along with my dodgy 50's paint job ) i am considering adding a few modern touches:
  • Side repeaters (they just make sense to me!)
  • A tablet dock on the dash instead of a radio/sat-nav and so that when i stop at shows i can take it out and retain the "stripped out" look.

and i was wondering what things other were considering adding to theirs?

I will be modding the frame so I can put pockets in the sides, and storage behind the seats.

I am putting an MP3 amplifier and speakers in with a cable in the drivers door pocket for my Iphone.

Also modding the Vitesse Smiths heater so I can have heating for my feet!

I am with you in going for the period look, but will use LED bulbs and adding interior lighting - oh and hazard lights in case it breaks down!!

Hazard lights for me too for the obvious reasons...

Plus a modern stereo so I can listen to something while I'm waiting for the RAC to turn up. I might hide it away somewhere or I might just live with the old/modern fusion look. The one I've bought looks quite plain anyway.

I'm also going for water/methanol injection so the old six doesn't pink on low octane fuel and a brake servo so I don't have to stamp on the middle pedal when I want to stop.

And I'm also going for a dash mounted umbrella handle handbrake because I don't want the lever under my armpit. Haven't got around to rigging that up yet though.

Electric fan heaters in the head humps to give his n' hers air scarves. Fully concealed.
Phone charger and music stuff hidden in centre between and behind the seats. Hidden again.

Default Too mod or not to mod...

I will just be listening to the purrr of my semi tuned 2litre! or the wife, depending how fast we are travelling. Also a couple of powerpoints and a boot similar to the G46.

Ahh, I forgot about the heater which will be keeping my toes toastie (I hope).

I'm also doing away with the ignition key and rigging up a 'keyless go' system: so long as you've got the transponder in your pocket you just flick up ignition and ancilliary switches then press the start button and vroom! Or possibly cough cough chunter chunter wheeze clatter silence...

Does using Metric bolts for any non Triumph fittings count?
Other than electronic ignition for reliability I hadn't planned on any
