Help wanted in rebuilding THE SAMMIO MOTOR COMPANY - Page 3

Well as it is absolutely bucketing down outside, I have a few minutes spare.

If you want a single "S" as a logo for a grille, then you might also need another logo with the full name on it.
( Featuring the same "S". )

For example my brake pedal rubber looks like this, although I forgot to take a photo of mine.

The "L" can stand alone, because it is also seen in this logo with the full name.

Which gave me the idea of combining this approach with a classic steering wheel.

Note: Other makes are available.

To come up with a very rough sketch for something like this.

Obviously, agreeing the overall font and the "S" in particular is the key.
( And there are much better examples of this on this thread already. )

Another option would be something like this.

Where:
- Jaguar is replaced by Sammio
- Supercharged is replaced with Motor Company (although I think this is a bit of a mouthful to be honest).
- Then the big cat's face could be replaced with a big "Sammio" S.

The only thing to watch with the "S" is that is doesn't end up looking like this slightly more famous one.

If you are prepared to drop the "Motor Company" bit from the logo, then a simple logo around the word Sammio would also work.

I thought it was interesting to see the difference just changing the shape around the Riley name made.

Although perhaps this Wolseley badge has too much decoration around the outside.

Either way, you could still take the "S" from the name for a separate badge.

Anyway, the rain has stopped and I need to get to Sainsbury's before it starts again.

Gary, I do like this but it would be difficult to re-produce this in flat steel.
That said it will look good as a paper logo.

As the www.sammio.co.uk has expired, does that mean you are creating an all new sammiomotorcompany.com website?

Or is the work load overflowing and last thing you want is more orders?

I suspect the later, but it might be worth having a basic page to direct you to madabout-kitcars.

Hi HM, I can't renew the listing as I don't have the correct password

I'm always busy, but it's all my own stuff so a few "orders" would be nice

Having a link to this forum is a must as it's actually the main instruction manual for a Sammio build .

I got the impression every old model needed to be re-worked and was not currently available.

Paul, when your a sole trader any order is a good order

But as an up-date, the Navigators moulds are no more

The Spyder mounds are still available but as over 150 units have been produced they are in desperate need of a overhaul/remake.
So yes, you can still buy a Spyder body, bonnet and windscreen surround but it's now got a few more lumps and bumps than it had before.

Whats happened to the Navigator moulds ? I recall these were extensively reworked and remoulded after a disaster with removing a body from the Cordite moulds rendered them unuseable , or am I getting this wrong ?
If I remember that correctly , they can only have produced a fraction of the bodies that the original Spyder moulds have .

Like I have said the Navigator moulds are no longer available.

The Spyer moulds are available but a little worn.

Hmm, EP's very relevant question hasn't really been answered there, Micky. '...moulds are no longer available' sounds a bit like the IRA's claim that they'd 'put their weapons beyond use'.

Have the moulds been sold on or scrapped? I think that's what EP's asking...

The Navigators moulds are twisted, damaged, unusable, in the yard and awaiting the skip!!!
All done with Andy Powell's knowledge and consent.

IMHO, THAT MAKES THEM UNAVAILIABLE

If i understand this right there is now an official brand name(Sammio Motor Company)with nothing usable to sell????

I reckon there is your answer right there Rene.

I suspect Micky1mo has plans for expansion up his sleeve , we have seen an alternative bodystyle taking shape already and his current projects reflect his thinking about adapting and improving the brand to secure its survival.

Its a shame to hear the Navigator moulds are junk. I know Spitfires are a dearer , generally, donor than the Heralds but I think they are still very viable option.

The Cordite is/was a very pretty car.

I know that finding modern donors is paramount to most kits and they have to evolve to survive but I do think there is a certain appeal and charm to the Sammio range retaining its classic status.

EP, your right there, that's why the new ALPHA is designed around the Spitfire and as every body knows it's easier to S-T-R-E-C-H a body than shrink one so the ALPHA should fit the Herald with some work.

The Spyder still "lives-on" and will continue to "live-on" retaining the same overall shape but with a few sensible improvements.
As the Navigator or should I say Cordite was a spin-off the Spyder who knows what will happen

Now where are my SAMMIO MOTOR products hiding
