Default Model On V5

Hello just after a little advise a friend is about to buy a spartan based on a mk3 cortina what should the model on the v5 state as it states cortina.
I would have thought this should have been changed as it uses its own chassis not the body shell of the cortina which i would have thought would have retained the id just dont want to see him stung

Many years ago - when the Spartan was built, the rules were much less rigid and it wasn't always necessary to change the log book.

However, times have changed and it can now cause problems. But, I believe, if you have some documentary evidence showing it is a Spartan (like old MOT's with the correct number plate and Spartan on them) you can get the V5 changed. I guess it won't be easy or hassle free though.....

I would want the V5 changed before I bought the car if it were me. The worst case scenario (and one that's quite likely) is that the car will need to go through an IVA test to get the V5 changed.

IVA isn't a problem for modern kit cars, but for one like the Spartan, designed a long time before IVA or the previous SVA system was introduced, it could well be a costly and time-consuming process.

never looked at a spartan but if it has the chassis and running gear of the cortina then it doesnt matter,if it has a space frame then thats where the trouble starts.
as i say i dont know how a spartan is built.there prolly is an spartan owners club out there somewhere id have thought.
alternatively theres a forum i belong to called britchopper.co.uk ,they have members that actually work/deal direct with dvla etc and have first hand knowledge, one being called sooze whos very capable in this department.
cheers.
