Gaz - I can't remmeber where you are based but I have two different size wheels on mine, bigger on the back, that you are happy to try as long as you refit them back on mine afterwards (they have the hub adaptors so should bolt on/bolt off)

Thanks WCA, Im up North near Wigan but get around. The problem isn't really the wheels but the look of the whole car that I can't decide on. The beautiful thing about this car is that I think that it would look great as a 50s racer, 50s GT car, 50s elegant classic but also as a slightly more modern GT/muscle car in both a restored or a rat look. This is the real issue that is holding me up at the moment, I just can't decide on what look I want to go for.

Well it has been almost 2 and a half years since I last updated this and unfortunately I have made zero progress in that time! Work is keeping me out of the country for 9-10 months of the year so the car has been sat in my garage collecting dust this whole time.

At the moment I am debating what to do with it but being away so much makes me think that I just wont get the time to enjoy it so I can either finish it myself and sell it (could take quite some time), sell it as a project or pay a builder to build it for me and sell it once complete for a higher value.

Does anybody know of any builders out there that can take on the build for me and likely price to complete? I hear that some nice examples have sold recently, do we know what prices they reached?

I would recommend reaching out to Jeff, he runs a body shop and turns out some stunners! From what I have seen no one comes close to that standard.

Wow, they are commanding prices much higher than I thought in that case. I always thought that mid 20's was achievable but I guess with prices of all classics rocketing this has also influenced the price of "classic" kits.

It would seem to be far more economical to have it built before selling it then

GOOD THANK YOU ....I personally think mid 20's is where they would be realistically ...Nubodi are building turnkeys for those figures , so I struggle to see why anybody would pay much more ...

Here here. And the more that are put on the market, especially at the lower end of the scale (I know the level of finish is different) will also bring overall prices down.

Jeff's are the cars that would set the ceiling prices, fit and finish is what it is all about.
I have seen some that you can get your fingers through the panel gaps. The final gapping and paint finish is where the time and money goes. Some I would have trouble getting in as the doors just don't open wide enough, and me with the snake-like hips
I'm happy with my build but I know I could improve on it but have no illusions that it would never come close to one of Jeff's.

If Gaz had the convertible I would love to have a go at finishing it. The thing about the convertible is that you can remove the rear end at any time which I did several times during the build and also removed it for painting which made it all much more manageable.

I still think Smash's car was sold too cheaply.

£55k is getting into Mirage Automotive 250 territory which I thought was toppy for that car. Pricing seems to be very speculative but if you can get it then good luck.

When the collector car market bubble bursts I would rather be holding onto a £55k Mirage 250 than a £55k Tribute 250. Just my preference of course.

I was looking at the Mirage in the recent magazine article , and it's quite impressive but for the money I'd want something 100% ...I can't put my finger on it , but its not quite right ...the lines are a bit off , too sharp or something ..dunno ..I'm no expert on those cars but it is a 100k car if they build it , apparently ..that's getting into serious territory ...

Also , how can it cost over 40k to put one together ? Am I missing something ?

Most of the classic car market looks like good value compared to this painting which sold for $450,000,000 the other day !

Whilst other investments out there offer little value for money or a good return, I think the classic market will remain strong for the time being. The classic replica market will continue to thrive whilst the real thing is unobtainable for most of us. It does appear to be the case that there are plenty of people with plenty of money to spend. I wish I still owned all the Mk2 Escorts and Capri's I've had in the past along with lots of other cars which are now considered classics !
