Default Paint Codes

So I see this old Jag (or whatever) with a colour that I fancy for the Sportster - but how do I find out the colour codes?

A whole lot of Googling has revealed general info on colour codes but not much that list car manufacturers/models/years against colours.

Anyone have any ideas?

Cheers

Robin

Hi Robin,
I found this really useful company about six months ago.

If you go to this web site....
http://www.paints4u.com/AutoColours.aspx?ProductID=5020

You can put in details of the car you have seen (make, model, year, basic colour like 'green', etc) and it'll show you the manufacturers colours used!

You can even order a spray can to see if you like the colour before you start!!

Mind you it doesn't help you make up your mind if you are like me... (it's going be Red, or maybe white, or dark green or dark red, and silver looks nice but what about black or maybe old english white with black wings, etc etc...)

good luck,

...peter

Thanks Peter. That looks useful.

I had just about decided on BRG - but then I saw this nice dark blue Jag and then there is the solid blue that BMW use now.... Hmm....

Hmm.. Cabrio is due to be painted starting on Friday. Sandie and I had decided on a BRG, but there are various shades. We spoke to our sprayer last Saturday having decided in Rover BRG, to be asked if we wanted Rover BRG1, BRG2, BRG3 or BRG4, He then produced a set of colour swatches and I b****ered if I could tell the difference. So we choose BRG4 as it was the most modern.

Then 10 minutes later in Morrisons carpark Sandie saw a "really nice" Burgandy colour! Arggh!
