Default pre SVA mot

i want a pre SVA mot for the phantom im building, and im curious, is there any law regarding a limit as to how far away the MOT station can be?
im looking at an mot station thats approx 60 miles away, think i could get away with it?
i know im far more likely to get pulled as no reg plates etc.. but there is a reason behind it

Eddy,

I know this doesn't answer your question, but why a pre-SVA MOT? I was planning to take mine for a 'pre-SVA' SVA test. I want to know the major stuff is ok (light positioning, etc) before paint & interior go on, in case I need to make structural changes. For the money, it seems worth it and I'm not sure how an MOT would help guarantee an SVA pass.

Best regards,
Jon.

because there may be something near said MOT station that i want the car to be at, and with the time VOSA take theres no chance of an SVA and registration before that date

Fair enough - sounds like a valid reason to me

Other than the above reason, I plan on having mine MOT'ed before the SVA to check the basics and most importantly the emissions - if there's something wrong there it can be fixed before SVA time

Unhappy

Hi Eddy,
You can only drive "directly" to and from the mot station for a prebooked appointment, likewise with the SVA test. Any stop off's in between are a nono, and I am sure you'll find you are not allowed to drive it "legally" to the build up inspection, we all know how insurance wriggle out of things if they have to!!
