I wasn't going to correct him but you are right. Bill hooks are an underrated tool and should be in every motor mechanics tool kit

Thanks, I stand corrected.
I've seen neither a scythe nor a bill hook used to work on a car.

Hmmm, nearly got stuck straddled across the speed bump on the entrance to a clients car park this morning. Perhaps I will raise the front another cm.

Maybe a pick and shovel should be included in the tool kit!

Same as AndySharrock - I building up the parts ready for the build. Not as exciting as his

Some bonnet pins

and i am guessing this contains bonnet hinges

Beaulieu autojumble this weekend so need to think what else I will need.
Head lights
Indicators
Side repeaters
Grille - probably get one from Tribute if possible
Driving lights for in the grille

That's about it I think!

Do need to design a spare bonnet holder for the garage and some way to easily fit and remove the bonnets when swapping them over

Number plate lamps?

Number plates even?

Nuts and bolts, washers?

A smaller bill hook for minor adjustments? ;-)

+ New front number plate
- side repeaters as the ones I have will be staying in the front side panels

No lamps or bolts etc as it is only the bonnet I am replacing and already have the hinges and pins

Chris - if you read this, I have an idea for integrating the side vent on your 250SWB with the little side panel on my Z300S.

The side vent on this is not dissimilar to the top of yours but stops at the chrome side strip. Perhaps you could do something similar for mine with the shut lines for the little front wing replacing the chrome strip?

Please don't use any other part of this car in the design, it looks awful.

Okay - I have had to delay receiving the bonnet due to needing new tyres on the Merc and new exhausts on the Barchetta. I should now be getting it towards the end of September which is after my ankle operation but hopefully I will still be reasonably mobile and able to work on it.

Until then, here are some pictures of the new exhaust (repeated fromt he My exhaust is Feked thread)

Finally got the car back.

The back box was fitted into what little space there was behind the cat' and the 2.5" pipes leading to 3" tips

From the front looking back from the cat

And looking forwards towards the cat

I love the long pair of pipes with no further boxes to disturb them

You can see the bigger tip from this angle but doesn't look too bad I think

And from the side on the ground

I think the single pipe per side suits the simpler, more petite, rump of the Z300S

And the ground clearance is a whole heap better

That looks good, should get a better exhaust flow as well without the 90 degree bends in your pipes

Just back from a nice long test drive. Sounds great. Quieter but more deep and sonorous.

Not sure my camera phone will do the sound justice but might drive later

WCA - Those tail pipes look very good indeed.

Enjoy, Paul.

PS
I love the fact your paint is deep enough to show you & the two other guys in the garage in the reflection.

Here to help.

The challenge is the lack of space between the cat and the rear axle means most standard boxes won't fit, especially if you want to put a Y after them to have split rear pipes.

They custom built my box to maximise what fitted in the gap. This included a 1 in, 2 out design to negate the need for a Y piece.

If you try to fit the boxes after the axle the spare wheel bin means the floor drops too much on one side so there is no room. You either end up with the exhaust being really low or a non-symmetrical design.
