Default Back in the game, yay!

After a long hiatus I'm back in the game. It must be about 8 years since I sold my Cobra rep so that the money could go towards boring house stuff but I've been looking for about a year now for something interesting to get stuck into.

You might have guessed that having posted in the Italian Replica section that it has got something to do with an Italian replica, well Watson you'd be right.

It's a very long term project but it is one of my all time favourite cars so I couldn't pass up the opportunity even though I'm not really ready to start it yet.

Pic below is a big clue.

Lots of jobs round the house I must complete first but can't wait to get started on this, think I need to sort my garage out properly first though

Mine too. Don't think I've ever seen a real one in the flesh, only seen copies at kit car shows, some are damned impressive.

Would have loved an EG Automotive kit and one did come up on ebay a few months ago but funds were just not there. This one is a very old Robin Hood kit based on a TR7. Body panels are pretty good and I've also got a coupe panel should I choose to go that route.

TR7 has already been stretched to get the correct wheelbase but has some rust issues. Not sure I'm going to use it to be honest as I had long thought a TVR 350 would make a better base and as it has the correct wheelbase (give or take a mm) then I reckon I could just rebody it and avoid IVA.

Would need to incorporate the TR7 windscreen, frame, side windows and hood to get the correct look.

Lots of work and thinking to do. Will probably have to make the front indicator lenses somehow as replacements cost more than I paid for the kit and TR7. Think someone on here made their own rear lenses but can't find the thread now.

Agree, think you would be better off using the TVR, maybe more work but at least the running gear will be better

Or stick a TVR tuned V8 into the TR7...

Although I haven't started any work on this yet I have been doing a lot of thinking. Firstly funds won't allow a TVR purchase at the moment so I'm going to stick with the TR7. I may be able to get away with no IVA as the TR7 was stretched years before IVA came in to play (we'll see!).

A V8 doesn't seem right in a daytona shape. V12 yes, but probably not at this stage. I'm leaning more towards fitting a straight six. Don't know what flavour yet so open to suggestions. First thing will be to get the 4 pot working though so that I can move it around easier
