Bike gearboxes dont normally have a reverse
Most of the kit that i now of the use a bike engine are using a special gear box that has reverse or a diff with reverse fitted

yeah - kinda guessed that

I know some of the bigger bikes had reverse, but most dont.

I also know you can get an 'extra' box to shift direction.

I just wondered what the 'norm' was with a kit car, as the advantage of the bike engine is power to WEIGHT ! - stick a big clunky box on and you lose some of the advantage.
Thanks for the reply though ! - its a bit quiet here init :-)
