Default Engine position....

Hello to all.

So, Turbo engine in and driveshafts turn up this week. I have bottom stabilizer bar but not smaller one for the top engine mount. Question i need answering is... Once my shafts are in, how do i know where the correct position for the engine is????? I cant do any more jobs until this engine is in position, do i need a mechanic??

Also - Dont know if anyone can help with this little head scratcher, but my rear spindles still have quite a lot of play in them. Mark has told me they should be ok once the shafts are in and everything is tightened up but surely my bearings / spindles shouldn't be rocking forwards and backwards insde my hubs like this! I'm more than a little concerned!

Any ideas?!

Regards too all builders and thanks for the cuppa and boost gauge the other week Trev, was good to see (and hear) a turbo 5exi in the final stages... Didnt want to get out once i sat in it!!!! AWESOME!

Andy.

Hi Andy,

I have drilled another hole in the offside upper plate for the short stabiliser link (that you are missing). I found this made the engine sit almost pure vertical.

I have added a new link on the nearside. I drilled and tapped the gearbox casing M10, and added a swing bolt + adjustable rod end assembly. This locates the engine as far to the off side as possible. It also helps reduce lateral movement of the engine when cornering.

Then I tightened up the lower stabiliser link.

If you wish I'll take photo's..PM me your home email address.

HTH

Default rear hubs

Hi Andy,
don't worry about those rear hubs, as Mark says once you get shafts in and tightened up all free play will go. Brian
