Is that going to be possible/practical? From memory the Z3 has very low seat pans, maybe only 4-5 inches off the ground which would make speedbumps a nightmare.

I do very much like the idea of a modern car that looks like a D-Type though! Do you still have the original shell Chris? There are a few modern sports cars that could work, like a lotus elise or TVR Chimaera however they are a little too expensive to be used as a donor, even a banged up car would be £4-5k.

Bodywork
Bodywork type Cabriolet
Length (mm) 4050
Height (mm) 1293
Width (mm) 1740
Number of seats 2
Number of doors 2
Wheelbase (mm) 2446
Track rear (mm) 1494
Track front (mm) 1413
Ground clearance (mm) 110

ground clearance = 110 mm, 4 inches = 100mm

That is going to look proper slammed!

Hi Nick and Gaz. I'm a sucker for a slammed car These give a a 90mm drop:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AP-Coilove...item4151ef5192

That will leave a lovely big 20mm gap under the car for small gravel, flattened fag packets and the odd lolly stick that Seanick has left lying around

But seriously, until I have a Z3 to study in person, dimensions are just an estimate.

Reference the D Type shell, we have a mould.

It depends on what (body or chassis) limits the ground clearance, doesn't it?

Well the Stance guys don't seem to think dropping the Z3 or Z4 is a issue either

Guess I am going to have to buy one and let Chris sort it out from there.

There will now be a short delay while my leg gets better. Once I can walk and drive we shall resume play...

A nip here, a tuck there and a bit of jiggling...

Chris - Do you reckon you could fiddle it a bit like the 250 so it keeps the original doors and screen?

See the Quacks at the end of next week so find out what the operation will be, when and how long they expect the recovery to be. I have a bloke coming round tomorrow to look at the G46. If it all comes together there may be a Z3 wandering down your direction in a month or so.

I will contact you off forum in a few weeks to discuss what I want, what is possible and what I can afford. I am sure we will find some overlap between the three.

Hi Nick

I have done a 2/3 of a Photoshop of what I think you want/need. I need another hour to finish it, but bed is calling me

Timing for Z3, if you get one in a month, should be fine, workshop full at the moment. Hope you had some luck with the G46.

WANT we can sort, POSSIBLE is no problem and AFFORD I am sure we can manage.

Good luck with the Doc. Talk to you soon.

Off to see the doc in about ten minutes so fingers crossed.

The good news is I mention my plans to Mrs WCA and she groaned rather than shouting which sounded to me like permission.

With regards to timing, what ever is convenient for you.

With regards to photoshop, do you need anything better than what I have produced?

More seriously regarding the photoshop, I am quite partial to the Aston grill you put on the Mistral picture

Holy Shiite!?!?!

I might try and snap my foot off more often.

The quacks say my leg will get better but more importantly Mrs WCA has agreed to both the Tribute Z3 Special AND a Maserati as my daily driver.

Whoop! Whoop! Definitely a good day!

WCA - Sounds like great news from both the Doctor and your Wife.

Take care, Paul.

Gran Turismo

Like the photo mock up but I will have to grow my hair a bit.

I guess the bonnet will need bulking up a bit to meet the windscreen base. Perhaps a bit more Aston like?

Bit of a hang over this morning for some reason...
