Question 5EXI SVA failure points.

I'm still a fair way off completing my car, but I know I'd benefit, and I'm sure others would, if there existed a 'sticky' thread in which those who've been through the SVA test, list their snags.

Although most 5EXI failures are fairly minor glitches from what I recall reading, it'd be good to not fall foul of the same problems as other builders. Accepting there's variation between test centres, the centre the car went to, would also be handy to know.

John - could you make this a sticky?

Cheers,

John.

Hi John.

These are a few I picked up on from others that are common.

1) Sharp edges on body work.
2) Sharp edges on roll bar for seat belt. Use rubber around edge to cure.
3) Use Rover steering wheel.
4) All electrical cables in conduit and cable tied at regular intervals.
5) Brake pipes ties away from wheels.
6) Headlight out of alighnment. Heard different stories. Some SVA inspectors allow ajustment on the day, some don't. (I want to take car for mock mot before sva to check first)
7) Rear brakes not up to scratch. Again I want to take car for mock mot first.
8) Fit carpet on passengerside dash to cover lower heater.
