Default SVA Test Advice, Tips & Experiences.

It's probably been written before, but there must be people out there with a lot more SVA experience since last year.

Now that my car is built (to all intents and purposes), and the SVA manual has been poured over, I think it's time to bite the bullet.

The SVA test seems not to be an exact science and it would be nice to know if there are certain things that can be missed or overlooked.

Like the fact that the front indicators, if mounted straight up from the mounting holes are too far away from the outside edge of the vehicle, etc.

Also, It would be great to hear from SVA experiences at the test station and how much Valium they needed during the test.

To start the ball rolling, I would like to know if the front mudguards are okay for the test with no edging strip and are just sanded smooth and round. any thoughts?

Thanks Patrick.

How long does the car run during the test?

The car is driven on to a ramp for the first part of the test, car's off for that. Later the test include a drive about, brake test (out run up to 30 slam brakes on check for front wheels locking first). The hardest on the engine is the rolling road speed test as they don't have fans to provide air - the temp on mine hit 100 degrees sat on idle after that. It also manoeuvred to a wall to test the mirrors. The other test that involves running the engine is the SPL of the exhaust.

Hmm,

I may have to do something about the cooling for the rolling road.
I have about 4 mins running on half throttle before melt down.
