The absolutely gorgeous DAN from Tribute pulled out all the stops this weekend and moulded and produced a tonneau cover for me alongside his epic workload ...so put a big one up the DANMEISTER !!

He shouldn't be doing things like that, he's on a 3 week deadline for the 275, and the clock is ticking!

Been whittling away on this one ...lots of stuff thats not really very photogenic ...wiring mostly ...This car has a very busy dash ...separate idiot lights as well as the gauge ones ..separate switches for map light , heater fan , roundall lights , dash mounted indicator switch , dash mounted headlight switch , separate ignition and starter button etc etc... I still need to fit a fire extinguisher cable and a radiator fan switch ...running out of room !!

https://www.imageupload.co.uk/images...10/26/dass.jpg

As well as wiring , I have managed to make a framework that will support the fire extinguisher system , piping and nozzles ..as well as combining this framework with an upper radiator support frame .....still need to fit twin fans to the front of the rad but the expansion tank is in place and plumbed alongside the fire extinguisher framework ...

running out of room in here as well .. !!

2 cables fitted ..one in the centre of dash reachable by passenger and driver with or without tonneau fitted ...and second one on exterior of car next to battery cut out switch ...

Nice work, can that exterior one be locked off when car not in use?
Can imagine idle hands passing by when parked up giving it a tug....

Their will be a safety pin in the extinguisher, you only usually take them out before a race.

BIT MORE ACHIEVED THIS WEEK .... Radiator finished off and 2 x fans fitted to the front ...

Fans are attached to the steel frame at the top and a steel strip at the bottom ...

I have also made an exhaust system using new 2'' tube and some pre-formed bends , joiners and a Golf rear silencer with twin tailpipes ...

Managed to convert the heater controls to an electric switch and 2 x choke cables to replace the slide controls and fitted it to a bracket in the centre of a very busy dash !!
Also got the screen fitted , I made some short posts to support the ends and give the side screens something to rest against ...they need a bit of fettling , finger of filler etc.. but are on the car ..

explain me, as i´m bit confused: the donor spit was not restored, nor taken body off for cleaning and preparing the chassis for the next 20 years?

will this been done when all the bodywork has been finished? means body and chassis will get sperated, cleaned , refurbished and than put back togehter?

Just prior to being delivered to me , the Spitfire underwent a fairly thorough restoration in Denmark , that involved the body being removed , chassis detailed and painted , all suspension etc refurbished including adjustable coil overs being fitted etc. and a lot of welded repairs on the bodyshell , probably as a result of its time spent in the Danish climate ..The customer paid a substantial amount for the car by UK standards as he wanted a Danish registered and fully sorted donor .

Fairly quiet couple of weeks on the A352 due to a couple of factors ...I am waiting for the aluminium Bomber seats to arrive 15 days quoted , so any day now , hopefully ...these will allow me to finish the interior . I don't want to chance belt location etc until I know the whole layout ...

I've also been waiting for my Vitesse mate to come over to start the engine between us ..I can muddle through but am no mechanic , so like to be watched over and helped ...With a check through and a prime with fresh fuel etc ...she fired after about a dozen cranks ... I'm chuffed ..more mechanically minded than I thought !!

The front carb was leaking , so Ben stripped it and cleaned it through and fitted it with a couple of new gaskets and refitted it ...shes fine now ...

tomorrow we will time her up and run her a bit longer ...

Nice, been watching a pair of those (and others) for a while now for a future project. Are you leaving them in bare aluminium or going with upholstered pads?

Upholstered bases I think ...They are ok ..the seats , a bit thin and a bit rushed ...I see several guys selling these ..I'd probably aim for a mid range set if it was me , rather than the cheapest ...
Having said that , they do look rather nice ...

Yes ..I have some rubber u section edging trim that is going around the hole ..I think Woolies sell it , but mines come from a local Yacht Chandlers ...

The seats are very cool looking and not too uncomfortable as they are , but Thomas has plans for upholstered swabs to go on the bases ...

I'm nearly done on this one now ... Need to fit the wire wheels , firing up properly , taking for a short drive ...check everything and then it goes back to Denmark for paint and stuff ......

I think I would want seat squabs as well.
Best of luck!

Gary - The combination of seats, belts and ally panels give the interior a real race car look,

I hope the owner will send/post some photos of it in final paint.

Good luck, Paul.
