Summer's here and I'm off the road again! Managed to shear a drive shaft inside the diff. Gave the impression the diff had given up so I spent a whole Sunday removing the gearbox only to find out it was the secondary drive shaft fastened to the side of the block which could have been removed in about one hour.
Small time saving I suppose compared to the 4-6 weeks to get a new shaft manufactured.

Doh - Although not that surprising with the extra torque you've got.

Hope you get it sorted soon

Well drawing off to shaft manufacturers for price and delivery time but not expecting anything to smile about. In the meantime I have taken the mock up shaft and welded it up and sleved it and stuck it on. So far it has lasted for 200 miles but I have not given it any stick.
I am sure it could cope with full beans in 3rd 4th and 5th but not sure of 2nd and 1st.
Will try it to kill it when I have the new shaft. If it lives then it will have pride of place under the tele!
