All the kit is more or less fixed on the mx, fair amount of cutting done to the kit the sides of the mk1 are more rounded than the mk2 so I had to cut it back and blend it in all the voids have been filled with fast expanding form . The front is just held on with tech screws at the mo same again the doors are a different shape so I cut back the preformed wings and I will bond them onto the old wings and blend them in it will look better with a few more days on it, its a marathon not a sprint but its taking shape. thinking of BRG with a bit of sparkle, going shopping for wheels this week can not make my mind up banded steel or modern I do like the old school look

The good person that sold me the mx5 had a dodge MOT on it, working under it today I noticed a bit of rust on the chases rails busting outwards witch I then pushed my finger through. got my hammer out the rails from the front both sides to inside of the sub frame mounts are rusted trough and split full length. the only advisory on the last mot two months ago as for the rear break disc warn.
I bought a car with a full mot no advisory s thinking it would all be suite and the only thing its fit for is scrap. dose anyone no if I can report the MOT station if a accident had happened the car would just fold up

Anyone can appeal against an MOT certificate. If you go to VOSA they will arrange to retest the car and then refuse a certificate and rescind the one you have. It will be a stringent, fair test of your car which, if you're right, will also mean points against the garage's MOT licence. Just like a driving licence, once passed the limit their MOT licence will be taken away. This depends on how many points they already have.
If the problem can fixed by welding you may prefer to go to the garage that issued the pass certificate and request a VT17 Appeals Form due to irregularities in the way the corrosion test was carried out - they may offer to make the car good, if that's what you want.
As Mister T says, Trading Standards are your friends, and a good first port of call.

It may be worth asking the garage if they will put the car right first, and kind of wave the big VOSA stick at them.

Then if they refuse you have even more ammo to give VOSA.

Just a thought, I think I would do that.

Correct me if I am wrong, but those chassis rails are not really a major structural part. You can buy replacement heavy duty rails to bolt over the original to provide some more stiffness, might be an option.

I had rust on the chassis rails on my MK2. A local garage wanted to take the engine out to repair the rust but I found someone who would do it by dropping the engine and sub-frame on to an engine an engine jack and welding panels in. It can certainly be welded but it might mean dropping the engine.
