Default Engine electrical problem.

Had the weirdest of things happen with the engine electrics. It has been running all ok. About 2 weeks ago, I noticed the stepper motor was not making a noise. But engine would run ok.

So I thought I would investigate today. Started up fine even without stepper motor plugged in. Then all of a sudden a quick spark from the +ve on the battery terminal. The +ve terminal was no longer connected ( I was holding it in my hand waveing it to the neighbour) with the force. But engine carried on running normally! Both me and neighbour both scratching our heads.

Electrics!! hate 'em!

When I was having trouble getting mine to turn off a few months ago I had a similar experience.

Even with the batt positive disconnected the engine ran!!..only explanation I could think (other than 'it was using the force!') was that the alternator was still turning and charging...this feeds back into the fusebox and mems (even with batt disconnected), hence keeping the engine running.

..look on the bright side...your alternator is working well!
