Default 3mm hole in fuel tank

Guys I have an aluminium fuel tank, it has a 3mm hole with a self tapping screw with some kind of mastic over it as a stopper. I want to do the job better. Any ideas ?
Thanks Ian

Drain the tank.
Remove the tank.
Displace the fumes by filling with water until it over flows.
Repeat four times.
Dry the tank out.
Weld up the hole.
Pressure test tank.
Refit.

Best to take it to a professional and they will make sure it is done correctly.
