Default Centre tunnel

On the chassis of my herald 1200 there are no holes to bolt down the centre tunnel. The easiest action is to just drill some, can anybody tell me if this would be a problem on the DVLA inspection?

i don't believe it would be an issue as you are allowed to make minor modifications in relation to adding brackets etc. So i can't see drilling two holes being any problem whatsoever.

That said.... Seeing as you are putting the floorboards underneath that part of the frame (at least that is how mine is fitted) and as such you would be drilling through the floor, can't you just put the floor boards in place and use two self tappers to temporarily hold that part in place until the inspection is done?

My thoughts so far have been to leave this part until after the inspection just to be on the safe side but I should be fitting the internal plyboard in the next day or two so would have been nice to glass in the centre tunnel at the same time. I hadnt thought of a temporary fix with self tappers, this will allow me to at least get a good fit of the boards around the tunnel to cut and fit after the inspection.
