5exi on the road :-)
Not trying to rub it in or anything but just wanted to report that my 5Exi is now SVA-ed, registered and been on the road since Thursday.
I've now done 400 miles in it and its absolutely amazing to drive!!
There... if you needed some extra motivation to complete yours - it really does drive as good as it looks!
And its a real head turner - everyone keeps asking me what it is, etc... i don't think anyone's managed to walk past it without turning around for a second look... Parked it in Kings Road, Chelsea (London) and it attracted just as much attention as all the ferraris and lambos around...
Can't wait for more dry days...
Regards to all & hope to see you on the road soon!

Well done Dylan.
Be interesting to know how many are now on the road?
Did you have any problems at SVA? What version K Series or T series. God I am literaly just starting and am so jealous!

Well done Dylan, good on ya
Pics would be great, if you need someone to host them then please let me know.
Also I'm in the process of putting together a 'build diary' section on Madabout so if you want your build immortalised for all to see let me know and I'll get it together.
Cheers, John

Yes - will definitely take loads of pictures over the weekend...
Wasn't willing to trade driving time for picture taking over the easter weekend!
SVA - Marlin checked the car before hand, corrected all the stupidities that I've done/not done and put it through the SVA for me.. Some problems of course - for one I put the wrong size rims on the car (slightly too wide - not the tryes, the actual alloy wheels), the headlights were not alighed too well, my dakota digital instruments decided to play up on the day, etc...
Nothing too major and by the sound of it nothing that you guys should get stuck with...

Well done Dylan.
Glad to see you finished. It would be good to see some performance figures.
You are not rubbing it in but an inspiration to as all. And if you get the urge to get you hands dirty I'm sure I can find something for you to do!!
Well done mate.

With a bog standard 1.6 k series engine my dakota digital instruments give me 0-60 of 5 seconds...
Not bad considering that this engine can do a lot more with some tweaking...

That should give everybody that is thinking of the build some inspiration. How about insurance. I know there have been a few questions especially from the young drivers looking at a version to go for.

Dylan,
A result mate, well done. I saw yours at Marlin last tuesday when I collected Module III.
I wonder how many others are now SVA'd?

RE: insurance...
Adrian Flux are insuring me for approx £380 for fully comp cover.
I am 27 and have 5 years no claims bonus on my 'every day' car - Civic Type R.
They were able to mirror the no claims bonus so I got 5 years discount on the 5exi as well...
I live in London and the car is kept in a garage..
So as you can see - insurance is rather reasonable!

Yes - that was my baby in blue...
The dials are Dakota Digital - had them shippied from the States...
Great bit of kit - much more pleasing to the eye than the standard Rover dials

5exi finished
Congratulations Dylan,
I can actually remember replying to one of your early posts, a picture of a brake servo and asking what it was, so well done on overcoming all the obstacles. I like the dials by the way and look forward to seeing a picture of the finished article.
well done again. Brian.

Hi Brian,
Yes - I remember you helping me early on - many thanks for that! Just shows how clueless I was then... So i guess if I managed to put it together anyone can do it!
(intended for any kit car novice builders)

I'll see what sort of pictures I can dig up and perhaps try and put it all together into some sort of a build diary...
However I'm not the most organised person of all so it might take a while...
