I have got some LED lights which I found on the web, will post photos soon trying to concentrate on getting the back end bonded on so that I can fit those sort of things and get it MOT'd.

These cars continue to prove to be a popular build ..hats off to Chris and Dan for bringing them to the marketplace ... Reducing the hips a few inches has definitely improved their lines as well ...

No updates yet as I have been on holiday for past week, hoping to get on it at the week end as wheel spacers have arrived and will be putting them on.

Hello Everybody

Here is an update of the MX250 build, have finally got the boot lid to fit and work properly have used some stainless hinges buried into the body then reinforced with a bit of fibreglass. Will end up with a slight hump but hopefully will smooth that out and loose a lot of it to maintain the flush look that the build is developing into.
Have also managed to get the original locking mechanism working and can open the boot with either the cable pull from inside the car and the key from outside the car.
I am now moving onto the boot to hopefully do the same there photo's attached.

Here's another update from the weekends push on the build, have now got the front hinges fixed and bonded in, and the bonnet in correct position so that the gaps are as close as they can be and the bonnet opens and closes.
I am now working on the bonnet catch that I have got a bolt assembly that works on the original cable pull, just figuring out now what the hoop on the bonnet will end up being for the best result for the bolt to slide into to.

Have also had to changed the drivers door after starting the car in reverse gear and jamming the door between the wall and car which then crushed the door, at least now I don't have to cut out that corrosion at the bottom of the door, but ended up with a MK2.5 door where mine is MK2 so had to change the wiring loom as the door sockets where different.

Getting close now to getting the rear end bonded on, and on with all that filling and sanding and choosing the final colour which I think has been through the full colour spectrum.

Looking good Nick. I do like your bonnet release. I have been thinking of something similar for mine as I am going for front mounted hinges too. Have you thought about getting another boot loop from a breakers?

Thinking it will have to have a taper of some sort on the catch so that as you close the bonnet the bolt slides up the taper then into a hole and locks.

Could you not grind a shamfer onto the bolt? Have the end of the bolt butting up against the loop, and then a bit of downward pressure against a bump stop or seal and the bolt snaps in?

That is a possible option but not sure though if the bolt would go in far enough to be confident that it will lock properly. Probably a bit of experimenting to be done.

Another good few days with good progress on the car, have got the side indicators and vents on side of wing cut out and the indicator just positioned in.
Have also got all the flanges in for mounting the mesh in, and the spacer rings on the head lights so that you can put on and take off the chrome outer rings for the headlights.

Thanks for the comments, the indicators are off a mini cooper S was thinking of using the fog lights as well as one of the build threads mentions using them but are a bit expensive looking around for another alternative at the moment that could work.
