Default Change of seats question

Okay I've noticed some of you have changed your Z3 seats and I would like to do the same as I find them hard and uncomfortable. I have a pair of MX5 seats which are better for me but obviously the runners are totally different so how do you get round the problem of fitting different seats? Reckon the car will go faster as well, can't believe the weight of the Z3 seats

Cheers

You and me both- I would love a pair of seats like Deggsy's A352 but in an authentic shade of brown...

Make some adaptors up in steel or ally . Drill the floor to suit or adapt the MX5 runners to line up with the Z3 mounting holes.

Least cost -
-strip the Z3 runners off so that just he bottom part of the runner can be removed and bolted to the floor.

- now take your mx5 seats and chop off any brackets attached to the runners.

- now put the mx5 seats in place.

- never done this particular mod but with s fair bit of luck tyou should be able to fix the mx5 runners to the remants of the BMW runners. It will require welding and depending on the overlap perhaps some additional brackets.

Can I have your passenger side Z3 seat if it has working height adjustment please.

Mine has broken at maximum height so passengers get the full flies in the eyes treatment at the moment.

Good morning Gas i have fitted these to my SWB

The main problem was that the base of the new seat is very narrow , and i could not find a pair of universal runners large enough that would bolt to the seat and also to the floor of the Z3 , i ended up attaching the runners to the seat base and then bolting two pieces of steel plate at 90 degrees across the runners to attach to the Z3 mounting points , hope this helps , Geoff .

Hi,

I got these from good old e-bay, not sure how good they will be on a long journey so I am keeping my old seats for now.

The frames to make these fit on the old mounts was a bit of a head scratcher to do, but they seem to look ok fitted.
