Default Help please.....unidentified wiring

I'm sorting out the loom (front part) and have identified all cables in front of the bulkhead apart from 1 pair.

The pairing is Black (B) - obviously an earth and Grey / Blue Tracer (SU)...which has no id in the Marlin wiring diagram.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Yep I know the one. Not identified. It's the cooling fan. The wires at the front are spare but not sure why. They run to the fan relay near your fuse box.

It runs from the cooling fan area to the relay near your fuse box. Then to the rear of the car to the ECU. On the Rover, the ECU kicks in the fan.

Not got round to phoning Marlin yet to confirm. But fan seems to kick in although blowing a fuse but think this is because of the wrong rating.

Thanks...

I've checked out the Rover wiring diagrams and that gives this as cooling fan cables.

I'll call Marlin tomorrow and find out where to terminate them....

Will post reply.

hi bigrich

The wire you refer to is an alternative fan switch wire. this is for use on radiators that have a thermal switch within the radiator. The donor i used a L reg 220 GTI has the fan thermal switch on the side of the Rad. You should find that you have continuity between this wire and the same colour coded wire in the rear wiring harness that connects via the mems unit to the engine thermal switch. just blank it off if you do not need it

all the best

tony
