It's looking really good.

I know what you mean though, I'm concerned that my efforts on the inside will let down the paint job. Time will tell.

Bob.

Got big plans for the interior, but all in my head. I've bought the trim, aluminium and switches , what's the worst that can happen

This thread still needs more picture drum! Are you going to have headlamp covers? Can I ask, did you modify the shape of the kit at all when building? I'm thinking of building one of these, how rough is the kit when it arrives?

The car has been on the road for two years! Yes I have headlight covers. The reason for the new thread was Chris and I (more so Chris) decided that we needed to take the body off !! It has given me the chance to re do things I wasn't happy with and get it right.
I did not modify the body other than cut side grills and not go with edging around the nose opening.
The kit is in its raw fibre glass and takes a lot of man hours rubbing and sanding . Worth it though.
Any more questions just ask or PM me. Are you local to Hampshire?

Unfortunately I'm in Cheshire otherwise I would love to see it. Your car is very close to what I would like to build. I would be having a red leather interior from an s special, a motolita steering wheel and the usual BBS crosspoke alloys.

I actually work for as a prepper for a firm that produces (amongst other things) Aston martin front wings and bootlid, so I have the possibility of doing the prep and paint there for either free or cost.

It would be interesting to take a mx5 hardtop and modify it to mimic the lines of the coupe 250. Can you still access the frankenbolts/plate on yours? Also did you have to modify the wipers?

I prepped mine for paint but got the painting done locally . I believe the hard top is still usable but I have removed the Frankenstein bolts from mine and filled it smooth (took ages) the wipers are not modified as such, just got extension bolts attached to the wiper box so that they clear the body .
I have completely removed all the interior from mine and will be modifying the dash too , hopefully all done for stoneliegh.
It has cost a fortune so far if the wife knew she would go mad the base Mazda had loads of new and modified parts before the body was fitted.

Oops, think I may have gone a bit over the top stripping the interior down!
I hope I don't have to put it back together !!

Following your thread drum, keep going, and keep updating here. Looking fantastic. Is there a reason why you don't often have the headlamp covers on in photos?

No real reason for lack of headlight covers, they are currently not fitted as I will fit them and the chrome headlight rings after the mot just in case they need to adjust the headlight aim. That's all.
