Thanks! Yes, updates will come soon, I had a lot to do at house and garden this year and my 11 months old son is really taking a lot of my free time, but summer is over now and very soon I will be in my workshop again...!!

dash for my 100hp16V Mini. I wanted to get rid of the plastic 3-clock-instrumentpanel so I took it off.
I installed two metal tubes in the Mini, the upper is bended slightly, and between the two bars I put a wooden panel sprayed with clear coat.
I made an aluminum panel sprayed matte black for my Smiths gauges, installed my Alfa switches which were originally planned for the Dino, and built an 10mm aluminum frame with the shrinker, which I grinded to a matte finish.
The overall look is pretty nice after I installed it in the car, so I thought I share with you, even if it is just a very little project...
I am keeping this car in running condition to have some fun beside all my unfinished projects in my workshop ;-) but those plastic clocks were annoying me all the time...

I'm impressed with what you did with the shrinker.

Thanks guys!
The shrinker/stretcher is an excellent Tool!
Since I have it so much more is possible and it works so easy and quick!
Check some youtube vids for shrinker/stretcher tool and you will be even more impressed!
Even a very tight Radius can be done in Minutes if you look at my alloy frame for the dash.

I just read this thread and I'm seriously impressed. I love it.

I love the Dino and other sports/racing cars from that era. I'm getting ready to build an Abarth SP 1000 tribute. But, I'm doing it the easy way. I found a set of molds that were pulled from an original car and purchased them.

I'll be following your build.

Abarth SP 1000? Sounds great! Do you have a build-thread somewhere? Best, Axel

Hello Axel, I haven't started the build yet. I recently purchased the molds and they are being shipped to me right now. Once they arrive I'll lay up a body and then start on the frame.

To me the SP Abarth resembles a little Dino. I'm building the car with Hyabusa motorcycle power. It should only weigh 1000lbs when done. I have started a build thread in the build section of Grassroots Motorsports forum.

Take Care, John

Default Update...finally

Finally...

...it seems like winter is over already, so I pulled the car out of the workshop for the first time this year.
I wasn't inactive, I did many little things like flanges, reinforcements, brackets and other smaller things which I thought is not worth showing, but I decided to wait with the bigger panels until I can pull out the car in the sun to have a better view on the proportions and the flow of the panels...inside the shop is too dark and you don't have too many angles of view.
Btw, I found very nice taillights, the glas is from Karmann Ghia Type 34- quite pricy and rare- but they do look excellent, and the chrome is from Fiat (850 Coupe I guess). They work good together.

Now next comes the front fenders, front airintake and the bonnet...I am doing a 2 days metalshaping class next weekend, hope that brings me forward!

I love that rearview!!

Thanks for watching guys!

Hi Axel, let us know what you learn from your course on metal shaping. I don't mind looking at brackets etc...

Axel - I'm sure you will learn a lot from the metal shaping course.

I'm still amazed at how good you are before you have been on the course.

Good luck, Paul.

Hi guys

some impressions from the two days metalshaping class, I know 100% more now, and again it is a question of good equipment!
You don't need many tools, but they should be good! If you buy cheap you buy twice...my mistakes with O/A welding came from bad equipment, the instructor has a Messer-Griesheim 0.2-0.5mm torch, and it works fantastic! Even I could do nice welds!

Have a look at what we did the two days:
