Rich, have you got any pics of the brakes on the car (front) as I have only bought 2 full sets front and back and really feel the urge to buy another set?

What size discs will they accept? would they take 282mm or 300mm

Cheers
Craig

Hi Nick.

Here is my setup. Though not on the road, brake seem to stop on a six pence.

Servo from 220 Turbo.
Master Cylinder from a 216 bubble I think. This was to get the outlets on the right side for the Marlin supplied pipes.
Marlin supplied braided hoses.
220 Turbo front calipers with standard drilled/grooved disks and EPC green stuff pads.
Rear 220 turbo calipers and drilled/grooved disks and EPC green stuff pads.
Handbrake cables for a 200 bubble. Not sure with as there are 2 different sizes I was told. But went for the longer of the set.
After speaking to the guys on here, I will be changing to just grooved disks.
You will also need to space the carrier bolts with washers.

Hope that helps.

They've only been temporarily fitted for checking measurements at the mo. Here's a pic of the caliper in position (note the old solid disc will be being replaced by a vented one)

This caliper mounted directly on Marlin's radial-bossed upright will only take a 262mm disc. Data on the caliper (powerlite I think) from rallydesign:
http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/catalog...ducts_id=10498
suggests it will take up to 280mm disc, but you'd need to make your own caliper bracket.

The thing I'm still uncertain of is front/rear balance. Time will tell!

Front & rear balance is sort of simple as you can buy a balance adjuster, which you fit into the rear brake line. Not sure if you may be able to fit this to your car or what your brake parts your using.

Exactly - not too worried because I can fit a reducer if I need to. I think it's OK for SVA as long as it can't be adjusted easily (I imagine as long as you need tools to adjust it would be ok for SVA). I can put the knob back on afterwards

Rich I think that caliper looks

What to do

Need them to fit 282mm as that is what I currently have, I wonder whether marlin could supply uprights for 282mm and at what cost?

Anyone know how much an upright is from marlin??

I can't really resist at only £79 each for the calipers as it's peanuts

You know, I was thinking after posting that message that actually the only dimension that changes to move to a larger disc is the "height" of the mounts - i.e. to move the whole caliper radially outwards. In other words you might get by with some 10mm spacers between the caliper body and the tapped mounts on the upright. It would still be stiff in the directions that matter and in fact the greater bolt stretch might be no bad thing. Alternatively, I'm sure Marlin could make these mounts a few mm higher without much problem. Incidentally, the mounts appear to be for the 47mm top-hat disc, not the 45mm if that makes any difference to you. At least I hope I'm right because that's what I ordered

what to do about the rears?

But currently I have the larger 262mm discs so anything I changes would have to be big enough for these discs and accept the handbrake cable!
