That is looking great! I went to the Tribute premesis last week, saw the two being built and have decided I will be doing a SWB ! Will be using mine for sprint / hill climb competition so working out a few details, currently thinking of using a Z3. 3.0 as a base, and hopefully at the end when finished supercharging it. Going to sell my bike engined car to make room first.

Nice build looks like the rear adjusters need to be removed. Are you planning to stay with black? Looks good. I would like a like kit next year. Jeff

Default exhaust sorted

thought I would have a pop at the exhaust while I am killing time waiting on the window frames and grill to arrive. I had a back box off a Audi avant kicking around with some good bends on little bit chopping a grinding and this is what I come up with.

tail pipes are way to small ebay clanger they did look a lot bigger but they were ok for the mock up. the audi has a wicked tail pipe so I may need to find a other to match it.

my spinners came this week 50quid with delivery off ebay bargain of the month.

jeff for now I want to run it rat look in black but it will be in silver if not before Christmas just after. andy

lol, the Audi one is spot on but it means buying a box just to cut off the tail pipe. I feel a visit to a scrap yard coming on

spent the weekend rubbing out joint lines from the moulding bit of before and after for you.

The plan never was to get it perfect but at first glance it is passable for now. as you can see form the pics I had to do some filling I did try to cut it back but the step was to big and I went through the gel coat and some.

The pictures make it look better than it is but experience has tort me to get it passable then let the experts do a proper job when I get it painted.
The boot latch handle has gone in favour of the original bmw latch on a boot pull off a mx5. I like the smooth look of the rear, I moved the handle twice then just took it off a filled in the holes .

Oh the beauty of GRP bodies- just keep the filler as thin as possible so it won't shrink in future.

must be old age or just the fact that I now try to do it right well most of the time , I glassed it over first then used a bit of good old gobo to smooth it out

Your car is looking brilliant Andy, the stance and wheels are spot on.

Really sorry for the delay on side windows and grille, I have been let down by suppliers of glass and grille slats as you know, but they will be finished this week and making their way to you via courier. Keep up the great progress..

Default quick update

I have just been in for an opp so the cars not had a lot dune but sitting around is driving me mad as the windows and grills come time to have a pop just slow.
I recessed the rear of the door handles to make them look like they belong on the car.

IMG_20150801_172556.jpg

IMG_20150801_172605.jpg
fitted the side widows door skins are now bonded on and the grill and side repeaters are now on .
IMG_20150801_172625.jpg
roof lining fitted ive run it all the way down so it matches in the back when you look through the window
IMG_20150801_172529.jpg
the original internal door panel has been reworked so it will fit with the new lower window frames
IMG_20150801_172519.jpg

just waiting on the good old DVLA to pull there finger out so we can get it back on the road and start looking for a show or two.

Default few more bits sorted

problem with waiting for the dvla to get the paper work sorted is I am already changing things on the car and its never been off the bloody drive. lol
so this weekend made a boot stay to hold it up its hit me on the head to many times, fitted fog and reverse light flush mounted
eBay item number:23161552530 so they dont look to stand out.
fitted door rubbers eBay item number:121432862268 good stuff for a change also cut out all the vents and fitted this stuff eBay item number:251831841139 good stiff mesh not the fly screen stuff. gone a bit old school and added the AA badge on the grill and I must admit I nicked the road runner badge idea from Garry aka NED but I could not resist it.

You've added some nice detail there, which will make such as difference to the finished car. I particularly like the sunken reversing and fog lamps.

Talking finally got a V5 so we are good to go

well today I got the go from the DVLA the car is now fully road legal as a kit car. I could not call it a Italia 250 swb because that was the next speck up from my car so its a BMW tribute 250. I have waited that long and filled out that many bits of paper.I would have called it a bloody vesper if they were happy to register it.
test drive was sort of ok until I worked out one of the wire wheels is slightly buckled above 30 its ok under its got a clunk so back on ebay we go

just (maybe) a small point - the 'tripods' on the headlights look to be in different positions........ are the beams set correctly, or do they need rotating some?
