hello all, really really fancying a kit car but so many to pick from, so this got me thinking,
apart from there been so many tryed and tested kits that work what is to stop me designing a car, and building it from scratch? (or starting building and designing and redesigning as i go along)??
by trade i am a sheet metal worker/fabricator/welder/dogsbody, and at home diy machanic. i am in no rush and have the space and consider myself far from stupid,
i'm not too bothered about it having body panels and quite like the look of the MEV Rocket, so i was thinking of some thing along those lines,
every opinion welcome and look forward to your replys

Cheers, Chris
p.s. i know i said i'm far from stupid but you will have to excuse my spelling, not right good at that!!

Chris,

Go for it, I like the mev rocket too, it looks the part, and you could make something simlar, without spending a fortune on the build.

Show us some sketches or your ideas, and looking forward to it.

Cheers
Italo

theres just the few odd things that i'm not sure of for starters
do you just build something and take it for SVA? i know there are guide lines and rules but can anyone just do it?(you don't need some kind of company registration?)
one thing i have seen is that every car that go's for SVA has to have a chassis number, do you just make that up?(chr000001 and of you get giddy and do another chr000002?) if i want a "new" reg i know it has to be made of new parts but do reconditioned parts be classed as new and if the car is made of parts for loads of different cars not just one doner and the car gets "Q" plated what difference will this make at the end of the day?
sorry if these sound like silly questions but just somewhere to start

Cheers loads, Chris

I think one major part can be reconditioned (like the engine) and you can still get a new plate. EddyP got a new plate on his Phantom!
