Default 6 cylinder A352 build, maybe.

Having run out of current projects, house done, Subaru engined VW up and running, '74 Mobylette saved, etc, I need a new project.
Having done a Dutton Phaeton and a few Spitfires and GT6's a few years ago (25+), I fancy a generic 50/60s sports car but without the £50k price tag. Looking around the A352 looks a pretty little thing and would sound lovely with a Triumph 6 cylinder.
I'm going to visit Dan at Old No7 to discuss and have spent many happy hours annoying the wife trawling through the forums for various builds, Scottie, Mr Christmas etc.
However, have many done a gt6 engined one and are there any obvious got-ya's that I should be aware of?
Also, rough build times would be great (I know that is a bit of a how long is a piece of string) and does anyone live around Somerset with one that I could view, chat with?
Thanks in advance.

ricp – Welcome to the forum.

I’d suggest your contact DaveCymru who is also based in Somerset.

He has built both a Sammio:

And a Miglia (which he still has):
http://www.madabout-kitcars.com/foru...ead.php?t=4953

So he knows a thing or two about kit building.

Phil9 had a very nice straight 6 arrangement in his Sammio.

These is also a Miglia that has just gone to Kong Kong with a 2500cc TC engine in it.

Based on reading Scottie’s A352 build thread, I know access to the engine is tight.

So it might be worth considering converting the A352 to a flip up front, similar to Tribute’s D Type kit.

I know it is not a Tribute, but I made a set of very simple ‘scissor’ hinges for mine, which lowered the pivot point.
( Excuse the work-in-progress photos with the wrong bolts in. )

And I love the end result, even though it is just a Spitfire 1500 engine.

Hope that helps and good luck, Paul.

Hi ricp,
Currently in the midst of an old no.7 A352 build on Spitfire chassis with Triumph straight 6. I'm not the most prolific poster on the forum, but my build thread will give you a flavour.
There's load of help and experience available on here, particularly with items you may have not come across before such as reregistration issues with the DVLA.
Dan at old no.7 also really helpful too.
Good luck!

Steve.

Made a visit to Hurst today to see Dan at Old no7. Very interesting and helpful.
Looking at the part built 352 there, I'm pretty sure that even with a 6 cylinder fitted, the regular bonnet would give sufficient access rather than needing to go the flip front route.
Might need to play with the seat type and position as well to get it lower and further back as I'm 6'1".
However I would love to see a completed car if there are any around the SW or if anyone is visiting any events/shows this summer in this part of the world.
So now the search for the sacrificial Spit begins.

ricp My workshop is in Swindon Wiltshire, 10 min from J16,M4.

I am building one of Tribute's "D" type bodies (with a few mods) which I think is similar to the A352. Mines fitted with a Jaguar 3.2lt so you can judge the room needed.

Your welcome to call in any time to have a look-see and a cuppa.
