Default Insurance

Dear all,

I need to insure my car within the next week, but haven’t previously owned a kit car, so I’m not especially savvy about the kit car insurance market.

I’d be grateful to know who has insured their car with whom, and what it was that led your decision – cost, good customer service (previous claim?), flexible policy.

It’d also be useful to know what you’re paying and for what, so I have an idea of whether the quotes I get are reasonable.

In my case:

Age – 28
5EXI with CTR engine
Low risk postcode, and car will be garaged
3 points (SP30)
1 low cost fault accident ~ 4 years ago
Use of 4 other cars

Does my gut feel, of about £350 / yr seem reasonable?

Cheers,

John.

Mine cost £350.

220 turbo
Age 36.
6000 limited mileage.
Footman James.

The reason I went with Footman James was due to insurance and SVA. Adrian Flux would only insure for on the road cover for 2 weeks without a reg number. So I said, so what happens if it fails first time? Replay was you won't be insured as it's only a 1 off 2 week cover if you have no reg number.

Footman James did not care. Insured it until reg number using chassis number.

Hi John

I used flux for my first car, then found Footman James and prefer their policy, you can limit from 1500 miles upwards, they also allowed me to upgarde from my build up policy seemlessly to the main car policy, and covered me for the SVA journey.

If you look at the marlin owners club site they have links to insurance companies.

Happy hunting.
