PG1/K series owners steady bar pictures.

I know some owners have have used a Rover steady bar going back to the removable rear section.

I'm hoping it connects from the PG1 and not the K series sump etc.

Can anybody advise?

This sounds ominous - what's happened?

We noticed a clonking at spirited pull aways.
While up on the ramp notice the v brace that was made, had movement on the bottom bolt that attaches to the gearbox. It's only a very small bolt due to the hole in the gearbox it mounts to.
Having a good look and head scratch, only real way of a steady bar is the other side of the engine.
So thought, ah. Use either the VW or k series steady bar. But on investigation, the k series uses the steady bar on the k series sump and the VW on the gearbox. Both I don't use.
Trying to find out how the mgf does it. Elise uses the sump as well. Hoping there is a dogbone on the mgf from the gearbox.

Is the steady bar attached to the engine or gearbox? I was hoping the gearbox.

I don't think Ken's will help you, as my memory is that it uses a rear mount toward the driver's side of the engine.

Your best bet must be to use longer bolts between gearbox and adapter plate, and connect that way. You'll still need a fairly sturdy bar to brace the engine to though, as it's quite a width to span - I've got roll-cage spec CDS spanning the rear of my chassis, and it certainly flexes under load.

I have finally got round to looking and my bottom engine mount is attached to the sump. I would seriously recommend beefing this up if you are going to use a lot on track as mine has now broken 3 times and I am going to have a bespoke one made.
