Spoke to a chap at concours with a Jaguar MK2 last year who, with a rather unhappy look on his face said "i bet you have much more fun with your cars than I do, I never get to drive mine", which kinda sums up concours for me. These Sammios are being built to the best of the owners' ability and to their own standards, far and away more fun than yer trailer queens. Who cares if the paint aint perfect, first stonechip evens things out anyway.

Keep it up, everyone.

Len.

Got my seats and headrests back today....

and fitted up the little details like the period AA badge

oh, and I got my re-cored radiator back and fitted it all up..

So now it runs and drives, and I took it for a little spin up the road to see how it went, and I must say it is a unique experience!

I am going to try and finish off the little bits left to do by tomorrow evening so I can take it down to Poole Quay for the open top sports night.

I also updated my website

I really like that AA badge on the grill! Could you possibly get a longer range photo showing that on the front end as i may "liberate" that idea for mine as well

Driving position is really nice, very relaxed, and not too "sticky-head-out-the-top"

I will post a photo sitting in it later when I get my wife on a break from her hairdressing!

NICE! You must be really proud

Now you can start looking for 'other' locations for the hair salon so that you can reclaim the garage!

Here's one of me in the car so you can see how high I sit.

It doesn't feel too high, in fact it is just right for putting your arm on the side! Any lower and you wouldn't be able to rest your arm, so I am pleased with the way the seats turned out. They are very comfortable, and I remember that I don't have lowered floorpans in. If I slouch I can go lower, but why would I want to slouch when I am driving a Sammio Spyder?

Overall, a great choice and although the seats are not adjustable, they are just right and have a comfortable position, and to be honest, when you start to get the interior in the spyder, the cockpit starts to get very snug!

Just been tuning up the engine and took it round the block again, and the thing that strikes me is the wind noise in my ears!

Do I need ear plugs or some ear muffs?

Loving the car though!

Been following your build and loving every bit of it. Fantastic result. Keep modifying it so we have more to read!!!

Shame (good thing!) it's "not a club" or you would be making arrangements to collect your award

You could try a vintage motorcycle helmet for the wind in the ears problem. A quick ebay search turned up this one -

Bargain...

Love your car btw, great job done!

That would be cool. Despite me wearing a cap and sunglasses when i go out, what i class as a 'stunt fly' managed to go under my cap brim and over the top of my glasses and hit me in the forehead on the only 10mm of forehead showing, at 50mph it really hurt!

or as wife responded ...

Ooh, stunt fly in the face sounds painful. My main concern would be deflecting lumps of truck tyre with my cranium on the motorway. I'm thinking that something like this might be suitable for high speed long distance driving -

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2508265000...#ht_4070wt_952

If you look through the seller's shop you'll find ones that have a zip out leather(?) 'scarf' portion that protects your ears from buffeting.

Add one of these and some white overalls and you could achieve the 'vintage Stig' look -

Couple more shakedown runs today, and a few little jobs left o do over the weekend....

1. Tighten up the front wheel bearings.....
2. Finish the interior (behind the seats and centre console)
3. Get hold of a new light switch (dodgy connection) and sort out why I only have one headlight (wiring ok, bulb ok????)

oh, and go out for sunday lunch with SWMBO to a lovely country pub
