Default modified Z3 insurance recommendations

Coming towards the end of the build now and would like to put it on the road for a couple of months before painting.
Anyone got any pointers on cheap car insurance and rough prices, 2.8 Z3 with 250 SWBc kit.
It will probably be a limited mileage policy as I have lots of other cars and bikes so they all do quite small mileages.

Adrian Flux should always be first port of call, they do kits and classics on ltd mileage. I think they are the benchmark insurer for this kind of stuff. It is a while since I had the kit, but they were always excellent.

I think Adrian Flux hold details of the Tribute range of kits so try them first.
They understand the market and the owners of specialist cars. Talk to them, I have used them many times over the years and always happy with their cover. They do low mileage policies too. Mention you built it yourself , you are in the Tribute "Club", go with some sort of agreed value etc.

Well I gave Adrian Flux a ring and they sounded positive because I already have two Mitsubishi GTO Twin Turbos insured with them and thy also said they could mirror across my 9 years NCB so was expecting a good price but they came up with £315 limited to 3K miles, Not impressed. I explained that I had just insured my Mercedes SL350 for £200, unlimited mileage, much higher insurance group and much more valuable. Went away for 5 minutes and came back with £185, much more reasonable. Insured from the first so I need to pull my finger out.

Agreed value is important with these cars. A Z3 with a "body kit" isn't going to be worth much in the eyes of an insurer unless they understand the market
(Unlike A Flux). Your high street insurer will only offer the value of your Z3 donor if your not careful , the fact these conversions can be worth up to £20K won't register with them. Be careful out there !

My NCB is on another car but they mirrored it across. Seems that this is becoming more common and about time too.
I limited the mileage to 3K but 5K would have been just over £200. I only put a value on it of £7.5K as it isn't painted,
final value will depend on how well (or badly) the paint job is.

I've used Classic Line for all my non standard cars for the last 20 years. Always good service and they just sorted a fair price for the 250 that Tribute just sold.

I use Aplan for all my cars and mhome they do not use your no claims on the kit or the motor home. fully comp on my swb 250 was around £150 agreed at 15k and my mhome 200 fully comp. I had problems with flux would never use or recommend them again.

when I picked my car up Chris recommended A Plan
This year came in at £193 for 5000 miles agreed value of £16,000, if I want to up it to £20,000 when its finished I need to send them some photos and premium will be £207, they seemed to know the kit and were helpful.

I used A Plan as well, very helpful and about £140 for 5,000 miles a year.
