Default Lowered Floor Pans....

We are working out a slightly different build method for the Cordites , because they are having a more substantial steel frame , we are going to give people the option of having a fibreglass floor instead of plywood...

The front footwells and seat areas will drop into our framework and get bonded in just like our battery trays do....the body can be glassed to the fibreglass floor as well giving you a near total fibreglass tub....not quite but you see what I mean...

We have made the moulds for the seat areas .....they are being supplied with oversize flanges and can be trimmed back to suit.

These will also work as 'drop ins' through a ply floor to give lowere seat bases on an existing Spyder.

Front footwells will be supplied with the Cordite kit or can be bought seperate for £30 each.

Seat pans will be an extra thick layup with 6mm ply inserts bonded in for extra strength and will be £40 each....

Heres the mould for the seat pans to give you an ideas of how they will be supplied......

Hi Gary, can you post the internal dimensions of your lowered floorpans please? I need the width, length and depth to see if my MGB seats will fit inside them or whether I need a complete rethink on the seat front.

Aaaargh ....forgot to do this before I rushed out the door to catch the post...

I know they are 460mm wide , just wider than a clubman classic....I think length was 590mm but need to check that - it is as long as it can be from just sitting up tight to the front floorpans and just shy of the rear outrigger leaving enough room to get a spanner/socket on the tie bar bolts should you need to remove them.
Depth was just a few mill less than the chassis rail depth at the rear , but it tapers upwards towards the front giving you a reclined pan...also they will be made with 3 layers of 900 sandwiching a bit of 6mm ply , so actual depth may be about 10mm less approx. but very strong......I will definitely get correct measurements tomorrow.

These are designed to fit in the Spyder either as drop ins or actual floor and will fit the Cordite too....

450 wide
590 long
about 90mm deep at rear
30mm at front.


Heres the first set going in....these are extra thick layup with 6mm ply bonded in between layers - very strong.

These are being used to create the floor , they can be trimmed down to 'drop in' as well...



They are using a lot more materials than I expected and need to be £45 each or £80 ia pair if ordered with a kit.

Dave fitted a pair to his Vitesse chassis today and I fitted a pair to Andy Kendrick's hybrid Cordite , so I can officially say they will fit both models !!

Correct me if im wrong, but these have been available for a while? i bought a set well over a year ago which look just like the above?

You can see a pair of these fitted to my car in one of my first posts.

All i would say is the pair i received were very poor quality and flex and crack terribly.

sounds like you had a set made during what gary calls the dark period. he had a series of laminators come and go and they caused him all sorts of problens. gary got well and truly tucked up by some of these geezers and it was instromental in him making a decision to jack it in. the quality is much better nowadays and the range is thriving by the looks of it.the downside of that the kit is 50% deerer than it was back then :-( seeing as how the mesurements are shown above , why not get a local fabrication shop to make you some steel ones ( I think that's what miglia mick does ), gotta be a better option surely? failing that I bet ribble do some nice ones.

I think gary had left when i ordered mine but anyway, be good to get feedback on how they are now :-)

I'd suggest you talk to either of the Andys at Ribble as I'm not sure if the fibreglass ones are still being made.

Their website shows the metal versions on these floors as an optional extra.



I've had both the fibreglass & metal floors for the Spitfire based kit and the metal option is miles better.

Get some sheet steel and your welder and just give it a go!
I made mine myself and they weren't too hard to do.

Yep, I made mine with leftover marine ply and fibreglass. Took a couple of days but was very straightforward and I got exactly the drop/angle I needed to suit my seats.









I didn't exactly get a smooth finish on my lowered pans, but they're hidden under the carpet now anyway

Sorry Shadow but I have to correct you here.

When I took over the range in June last year, the package price of the Spyder (Now Pilot) was £1335. It now costs £1249 which represents a decrease of £86 or 6%. The Cordite (Now Navigator, having been totally remoulded without passing on any investment costs to the customer) was £1675 and now sells at £1449 so has decreased by £226 or 13%. (albeit without the 2mm perspex for the screen (£10 from local DIY shop) and the egg box grillle (No longer available as water jet cut parts but mesh grilles available for £15)).

I don't think that's bad considering the financial investment made in the product thus far.

oh ok apologys mr ribble. I got that wrong. I think I must be confusing your kits with the miglia one ( easily done bearing in mind the similaritys ) the miglia is now about 50% more I think if the ebay listing is correct. I was trying to throw some praise your way for the improvements you have made to the product being sold now. out of interest how many have been sold since the changes?

No worries sir and I do appreciate the praises. We are doing our best to get the quality where it should be without hurting the accountants too much. There are about 4 a month going out at present. Mainly to our brothers across the channel for some (Probably the sunny kind) reason. The turnkey floor is slowly filling up and hopefully will be the subject of a photo opportunity soon.
