G-46 on the road!!!!
Hi, has anybody actually finished a G-46 and got it on road?
I only ask as mine should be ready for MOT next week!
I'll be driving it in "rustic" mode as I have yet to find some body who will take on the paint work and more importantly the body work for less than the cost of a mortgage.
Still, the gaps around the badly fitting doors will help keep me cool, just have to be careful nothing falls out
Mike

It's not April 1st, so this has to be for real. A G46 on the road must signal a cold day in hell. Can we see some pictures, please.

I sold him that car so I know just how close to perfection and completion it really was...
...and I don't believe him either!!!

PS Does this mean you don't need the spare engine now?

Hi Nick, like a good paint job the secret in the preperation and thats all down to you, well done!
I just bolted or should I say, bolted, re-bolted, tried, re-tried, fixed, re-fixed, throw away, started again and so on until all the big bits looked like they belonged to the same car
Found a set of nice seats, then chopped the rear humps by 4" so both them and me could fit in the car.
Fitted a center bar ready for the hard passenger side tonnue cover.
Re-fitted, re-fitted, re-fitted the dash, consel and all the original clocks.
I just need to fit the lights, make the loom, (fit and test), bolt in the seats and harnesses, bleed the systems and were away!!
Only about a week work and it's drivable/MOTable.
SIMPLE
Spoke to Andy today regards the screen and light covers, all good!!!

Great to chat Mike. I'll let you know when the screen bits are ready for collection. On another point, and one that will be of interest to all here. I do like your idea of using 2CV door hinges. I've played with them here too and they seem to solve most of the problems caused by curved doors and mini hinges. Any photos of your installation would be great to see here

its either great minds think alike or fools never differ, take your pick but have also been looking at this type of hinge, like the fact it can be hidden as well

The hinges are not perfect and the doors still fouls the body work when opening but it was a very long day
To hide the cap between the bonnet and schuttle panel I am going to make an air vent as per the period cars
What do you think of the dash?

Liking the dash, are you going to leave the coach bolt heads showing or glass over them?

I think because of the amount of filler required to fill the gaps around the doors the heads will be covered over.

Waiting for the wire for my loom, but I think I'm still on track for the end of the week
Could anybody tell me the production number of my G-46?
WCA says it's the first "round arch" one.
Regards
Mike

Mike - If it makes you feel any better, there isn't a single Cordite/Navigator on the road yet either.
( As far as I know. )
If you were able to describe some of your work / mods along with the photos that would be a good read.
In the mean time here are a few of your photos...
Good luck, Paul.

I have a valid tax disc and if I push it out on to the road does that count?
