New project
Not much of a start to a new thread I know , but I am seriously considering building another Sammio either Spyder or Cordite , whichever presents itself to me first really .
I am going to actively pursue an unstarted or second hand kit primarily as , I know it sounds a bit wet , but I would prefer to build one using a kit supplied by myself during my time as custodian , no offence to the current Sammio offerings , just wanted to use one of mine , if possible.
There are very limited funds available for this build , so it may drag on a while but . as I know people like pictures ...here's my first purchase ...

Hi Gary,
Sorry I've only got time for one quick reply on the forum tonight, so I'll get back to the other threads another day.
But here is my tip for finding an unfinished project...
Have a look at the Useful Info sticky thread and you will find a lot of build threads that were started, but have not been updated in a long time.
I know life can get in the way of building, so perhaps a few PMs might find someone who will let their unfinished project go.
Good luck, Paul.
PS
Obviously I would steer you towards a Spyder, rather than a Cordite.

Where did Bisto34 source his bodies from? Given that he is next to your (and Mike's) old unit perhaps they are Sammio originals?
There's an unused body sitting in a garage in Broadstone too, though the address escapes me at the moment.

The original pre-production Cordite with Beetle headlights is still sat in the garage at Colehill from memory ...thanks for the prompt , might give them a knock !!

Yup, it's near Corfe Hills. I bought a Triumph from it's owner. Next time I'm over that way I'll take a look. I think I know the fella with the Cordite too, though haven't seen him in years.

The guy with the Cordite worked at a leisure centre as the boss ..maybe Ferndown one , the one they used in The Brittas Empire ? Anyway he had had a breakdown and was convalescing ..... The Cordite may well have driven him over the edge !!!
Any info on Corfe Hills one greatly appreciated ...Thank you

Hi Triumph
Both of Dave's (Bisto34) Spyder bodies were supplied by myself with Mike Moore"s (Micky1mo) knowledge.
BTW I purchased the missing parts of the Sammio Cordite moulds via eBay as part of the clearance of the Ribble workshops. The Cordite deck and front end mould came to our workshop with the complete Spyder moulds, but sides and bulkhead were missing. I wanted to complete the set for posterity, if nothing else. We also have the Miglia moulds, which you saw last time you visited the workshop, which is of course a Cordite with a Big Nose.

Thanks Chris, I always get mixed up about Sammios et al! Glad you're able to help with these too. I think you should pop down to see Mark at Southern Triumph (Southbourne) some time: between you both you could build a hell of a Miglia!
Gary, the Brittas Empire was filmed at the Ringwood Leisure Centre, perhaps pop in there and ask? I feel certain I've been to his place in Colehill to buy something or other.

Time for an update methinks ....Thanks to Paul L's comment I ended up with a Sammio bodyshell . Hugh on here who literally had just acquired his body was a bit overwhelmed by the task ahead of him creating a frame etc and messaged me asking if I wanted to buy his bodyshell , a shortish trip to Axminster later and I have a body !
I have progressed somewhat to this stage ....
Whilst collecting the parts for this project and the presence of the D type project in the workshop , the creative juices have started to flow and I am keen to build something else , related but not related ...kind of !!
So my next step in this build was to do this .......

Thank you Pops , I was very pleased with that ...3 people pushing it over £3500 is encouraging for Sammio values ...they slumped a bit whilst at the higher sales figures but maybe lack of availability or rising classic car prices have helped lift prices again ...whatever it is ..its good news ..
I agreed to MOT it for the new owner , as per my listing , as an option ..so yesterday she went in and failed on some brake adjustment , loose column , missing jubilee clips on fuel line , high beam issue , loose seat and a tyre ...
Seat is done , brakes are done , high beam earthing fault is done ..so tomorrow its fit a tyre , tighten a column and fit two clips ..and shes back in ...It definitely pays to start with a decent donor if you are looking for a quick build !!

Gary - Quite by chance, my car going off to get some professional help may have actually helped your sale.
As someone on the JY Classics Facebook page posted a link to your advert as a reply to photos they posted of my car.
https://www.facebook.com/JY-Classics...7354516947231/
The good news is that your buyer will have a car to enjoy for the Summer.
( The "survivor" look is growing on me. )
As I also really like the look of this car at Stoneleigh 2016.
Cheers, Paul.

My 'survivor' was as a result of low budget being my only option .
Original steels dont look too out of place on an extra lowered Sammio.
Original steering wheel , dash switches etc add to the original feel.
Original Herald tank straddled across the rear of the chassis with stock filler cap ..Cheap Landrover lights from off my shelf...budget home paint with painted roundals and numbers all done by me in a morning and rubbed back and 'patina'd' after lunch !! All done to keep costs down but all adding to the overall look ...weirdly , the brand new mirrors look out of place !!
