DAX Rush V8 comes out winning
Posted by Madabout News on Thursday, May 27th, 2004 at 08:51 AM

Former National Kit-Car Champion Andy Sterling has wheeled out his old faithful DAX Rush V8 for the first time in three years and is already back to his winning ways.

The eight-year-old car last raced in 2001, when Andy used it to claim the title. Since then it has sat under a dust sheet in the garage, but now it is back on track with a record so far this season of three starts, three wins in Class A of the 750MC-run Which Kit-Car Championship and one overall victory.

"The car was given a smart new body and was rebuilt prior to be seeing sold," said Andy, "but I didn't have the heart to let it go. It has been sitting around doing nothing for two years while I raced the factory-supported DAX Rush Hayabusa with some success in the series for motorcycle-engined cars.

"This year I had nothing else planned, so I thought I'd give the old car another go," Andy continued. "I was quickly reminded of what a very good car this is. It has a fabulous engine from John Eales, is well set up with Peter Walker's amazing camber-compensating front suspension and just works really well. It is absolutely sublime. Nothing can get close to me in the class at the moment, although I'm sure they are all working hard to catch up."

Andy, 30, has been competing with the IRS Rush since he was 23-years-old, gradually improving it with the John Eales engine and the patented front camber compensation system. Andy was the first to race the new front suspension system in 2000 and immediately started winning. This year he plans to compete in all 14 rounds of the championship and is aiming to get his title back.

"I've won plenty of races over the years," says Andy, "but only one championship. It's the championship I'll be pushing for rather than overall race wins, although I'll take them when the opportunities come along."
