Mamba C23R powers through first racing season
Posted by Madabout News on Friday, November 3rd, 2006 at 12:21 AM |
The C23R, Mamba Motorsport’s new sports racing car for 2006, is having a very successful debut season in Sports Racing and GT series around the UK.
With only one race remaining for the factory-supported car, the new C23R has recorded four class wins from nine starts in an outstanding first season of Sports Racing and GT.
John Bridge, Director of Oxfordshire-based Mamba Motorsport, commented: “We are delighted with the success of the C23R. Our development work to modernise Lee Noble’s original design has really paid off in our Duratec-powered R model”.
The Mamba Motorsport C23 was originally designed by Lee Noble as a replica of the Lotus 23. In 2006 Mamba Motorsport released two new versions of the car utilising modern components (including a unique Duratec engine and Audi transaxle combination). The 230bhp C23R is a pure race car (as competing in SRGTC), while the C23T is suitable for track-days and fast road use with either 180 or 205bhp.
Ken Culverwell has been racing in the 750 motor club’s Sports Racing and GT Championship, the BRSCC’s Top Hat Best of British events, and has had a successful outing as a guest in the Sports GT Morgan Race. ARDS Instructor Culverwell said, “The car works very well as a complete package. All season, the combination of strong braking, good traction, and the torque of the Duratec has let me fight for – and win – the top spots in class against Crossles and Morgans”.
